Elk Grove (Calif.) Monterey Trail cornerback Prophet Brown is ready to sign on the dotted line and get started with USC.

But first, he has some unfinished business as a senior, that he’s hoping he’ll get to tackle.

“I plan on signing in December,” said Brown. “But my plan is that I am going to finish out my senior year in hopes of having a season to compete for a state title.”

While the state championships were canceled this week in the state of California, a section championship is still in play, assuming the season is played in California.

Brown and his Monterey Trail teammates are slated to kick off the season in January.

In the meantime, he’s hoping to get down to the Southland to check out USC something this month.

Though it won’t be an unofficial visit and won’t allow for any meetings with the Trojan coaches, it will give Brown more time to check out the vicinity of USC.

“We are going to try to make a trip down to the USC area in December,” said Brown.

With Brown not set to enroll until the summer, he’s hoping that after April 15th, an official visit might be a possibility.

But so far, he hasn’t heard anything from the USC coaches that indicate official visits will be a possibility.

“They haven’t given any word on official visits,” said Brown.

A versatile two-way player, Brown can play running back or cornerback, with a number of offers coming for either side of the ball.

He’ll settle in at cornerback in the Trojans’ secondary, though, when he gets to USC.

Donte Williams was the point man on Brown’s recruitment with graduate assistant Michael Hutchings also playing a role in the Trojans’ pursuit of Brown.

Brown was selected to play in the All-American Bowl in San Antonio, and even though the game was cancelled, he is the first player from his school to ever be selected to play in the Alamodome.

A four-star in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings, Brown ranks as the No. 12 cornerback nationally and the No. 15 player in California while 247Sports is higher on him, ranking him No. 130 overall nationally, the No. 9 cornerback in the country and the No. 10 prospect in the Golden State in the 2021 class.

Prophet Brown Scouting Report: One of the more dynamic players in the region, a sub-11 100m as a sophomore was a PR. Explosive on film, hits top gear quickly and gets to second level with burst. Can split out wide or match up against linebackers to exploit wheel routes. Needs to improve running with power, primarily runs with short area burst but needs to continue churning through contact. Projects as multi-year Power 5 starter and projects as early third day pick.
