Andreas Argumedo outlasted his opponent in the final match of the night at the Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV wrestling tournament and, representing the Monterey Trail Mustangs, brought home the 285-pound weight class championship at Casa Roble High School.
Argumedo defeated Jason Gallegos by decision for the win, and continued a storybook season for the Mustangs, who placed third as a team with 140 points behind Casa Roble (179.5) and first place Beyer (221).
Abdulsabur Abdulshukur, Russel DeVera, Daniel Ramirez and Argumedo will all move on to the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters tournament.
DeVera placed third in the 182-pound bracket, while at 126, Abdulshukur placed fourth. In the 195-pound bracket, Ramirez placed fourth. At 220, Eric Xiong placed fifth while at 132, Kent Huynh placed fifth.
The Masters tournament takes place Friday at Delta College in Stockton and runs through Saturday.
